Whiskey Mushroom Cream Sauce

February 13, 2018 by Wrenn Leave a Comment

Date nights out off the ranch are the best thing ever, but sometimes are few and far between!  When we were first married the extra cash was not always there to go out for a fancy dinner. And now that we have kiddos and live 45 minutes from a nice restaurant date nights don’t happen that often either. However, we do, do more lunch dates while in town running errands and such. We also do a lot of at home date nights and this Whiskey Mushroom Cream Sauce is a delicious way to make that special steak dinner even more special! It also pairs nicely with a good bottle of red wine! We hope you enjoy!

Whiskey Mushroom Cream Sauce

½ medium onion diced
8 oz of baby Porta Bella mushrooms, quartered
4 tbsp Bourbon Whiskey
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 cup heavy cream
Salt & Pepper

Start by melting your butter over low heat in a medium-sized cast iron skillet or sauté pan, add the onions and sauté until caramelized.  Increase the heat to medium and add in your quartered mushrooms sautéing until they begin to brown.

Turn off the heat and add whiskey, turn the heat back on and cook the whiskey out till almost evaporated.

Add cream and increase the heat to a high simmer, season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with your favorite cut of steak!
