Get to Know the Pachecos
Hi, y’all! We are Arturo and Wrenn Pacheco…the husband-and-wife team behind Cooking with the Cowboy! We are ranchers who create beef-centered dishes to nourish our family and yours. Arturo cooks, and Wrenn does the dishes. Wrenn is also in charge of tasting, writing, and photography. We have two little cowboys who are rowdy and love to help us in the kitchen.
What We Cook
Cooking with the Cowboy is a place to share yummy recipes we enjoy creating in our kitchens and recipes from our childhoods! Most of our recipes are beef-focused, as we enjoy creating nourishing dishes with our products. Arturo loves sourdough, so we share some of his go-to recipes as well.
Arturo has a deep love for food and fond memories of cooking with his mom and grandmother. When we were first married, we wanted to enjoy a good meal but were too broke to go out, so Arturo honed the skills he learned in the kitchen at a young age. He loves to combine flavors and create delicious dishes. His motto is, “Good food is not hard; it just takes time.”
Before kids, I used to sit, sip wine, and enjoy the conversation while he cooked. However, since kids and our lives have gotten busier, I have taken on more cooking duties. My method is easy and kid-friendly but delicious. So, you will see a mix of these recipes on our blog.
Arturo and Wrenn’s Story
Arturo and I met on a livestock judging team at Texas Tech University. We dated all through college and married in 2007. Then, we left Lubbock and headed to Manhattan, KS, for Arturo to pursue his PhD in ruminant nutrition.
After he graduated, we landed in a small rural community in the Flint Hills of Kansas. It has found us, and we have put down roots and built businesses that provide for our family.
Arturo is an independent nutritionist who owns Pacheco Cattle Services, a nutrition consulting firm. He helps farmers and ranchers practice efficient feeding practices. He has clients in Kansas and the surrounding states, and his goal is to help ranchers and cattlemen provide excellent products for consumers.
Together, we are ranchers and run Pacheco Cattle Company, which runs double-stock yearlings here in the summer, and our cow-calf operation. Check out our Ranch Life section for more about this part of our life!
