Pacheco Beef
Arturo and I are passionate about this part of our family business, and it brings us joy to see you fill your freezer with beef from our ranch. Pacheco Beef is a direct-to-customer beef business. You can purchase a beef share (half or whole beef) to fill your freezer and nourish your family.
Arturo has a Ph.D. in ruminant nutrition; he is a cow nutritionist. Through his nutrition consulting business, he helps farmers and ranchers achieve efficient feeding practices. He has clients nationwide, and his goal is to help ranchers and cattlemen provide excellent products for the consumer. He brings his expertise in feeding and finishing cattle to our beef business. He handcrafts and hand-feeds each calf to create the perfect cut of beef. He has a passion for finishing the beef and cooking it.
Why Beef Shares?
In 2021, we launched Pacheco Beef, and with tremendous support, we sold beef cuts from our small retail store in Alma, KS, and our e-commerce website. It was great fun! However, in 2024, there was a shift in the demand for more beef shares (half or whole beef), so we have pivoted and are now only offering our handcrafted beef in this form. This pivot has also allowed me (Wrenn) to be home to help Arturo with our herd and be more present with our growing boys.

How do you purchase a Beef Share?
It is pretty simple. All you have to do is contact me (Wrenn) at [email protected] to let me know if you want a share. Once I receive your email, I will send you an invoice for a $500 deposit to reserve your share. This deposit will be applied to the final cost of the share.
How much does a Beef Share cost?
- Our beef share costs vary from year to year due to the market cost and other inputs.
Please email me today to reserve your beef share. Shares are limited, and they go fast!

Frequently Asked Questions About Buying a Beef Share
How much beef do you get back if purchasing half a beef?
With half a beef share, our average return of pounds per beef in your freezer will be 230-250 lbs, depending on the size of the calf at harvest time.

How big of a freezer do you need for a beef share?
Those who want to buy a beef share always have questions about freezer size. So, I am breaking it down for you.
Quarter Beef
A quarter of a beef is 100 lbs, which offers many options for feeding your family, including ground beef, steaks, and roast cuts. For this share, you can fit it all in a 5-7 cubic foot freezer.
Half a Beef
Half a beef is about 250 pounds, offering many options for feeding your family, including ground beef, steaks, and roast cuts. For this share, you can fit it all in a 16-cubic-foot freezer.
Whole Beef
A whole beef weighs about 450-500 pounds and offers many options for feeding your family, including ground beef, steaks, roasts, and brisket. For this share, you need a freezer with at least 20-21 cubic feet.
Organization is key when it comes to putting away your beef. With better organization, you will be able to find and pull the beef you need for dinner quicker. I prefer a stand-up freezer to a chest freezer because I can organize and find things more easily in a stand-up freezer.

How many steaks, roasts, and cuts do you get with half a beef?
Here is a breakdown of how many cuts you will get. The number varies depending on the size of the calf, but here is a general idea of half a beef.
Steak Cuts
(includes Ribeye, Strips, Filets, Sirloin, Flank, Skirt, and Flat Iroins)

What benefits do I get when purchasing from Pacheco Beef?
There are many benefits of buying a beef share from us.

Benefit 1:
Convenience: You can store a freezer full of high-quality beef to feed your family, making meal planning and creation easy.
Benefit 2:
Customization: Purchasing half a beef allows you to customize your cuts according to your preferences. We work together to fill out a cut card to select the specific cuts and processing options that suit your needs, such as the thickness of steaks, types of roasts, and packaging preferences.
Benefit 3:
Cost Savings: Buying in bulk often results in significant cost savings per pound compared to purchasing individual cuts from a grocery store. While the upfront cost may be higher, the overall price per pound tends to be lower when buying larger quantities directly from a rancher.
