Caramel Apple Pie

  • 6 apples, small
  • 1/2 tbsp corn starch
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Caramel Topping

  • 1/8 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 tbsp butter melted
  • 2 tbsp Karo Syrup
  • 1/4 cup walnuts
  • 1 your favorite pie crust


  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  • Begin by making your pie crust and let it chill in the refrigerator while you prepare the filling.
  • Peel and slice the apples into a medium-sized mixing bowl. Then add the brown sugar, corn starch, 1 tsp. of cinnamon, butter, salt, and mix well.
  • Next divide the pie crust in half for a top and bottom crust, roll one half of the crust out and place in the cast iron skillet for the bottom pie crust.
  • Then fill the pie shell in the cast iron skillet with the apple mixture. Roll out the remaining dough and place it on top of the filling mixture.
  • Bake the pie for 30  minutes or until it just begins to turn golden brown. While the pie bakes mix the topping.
  • To make the topping combine the brown sugar, flour, butter, Karo syrup, and nuts. After the pie has baked for 30 minutes spread over the top of the hot pie.
  • Return the pie back to the oven for another 10 minutes.
