Pachecco Cattle Company – Introduction
Hi! We are the Pachecos. We are the ranchers and family behind Pacheco Cattle Company.
We are multi-generational ranchers but first-generation Kansas ranchers. Arturo and I both grew up on small cow-calf operations. However, there was no room to return home to our family’s operations, so we are growing our own.

We have started from scratch in some of the best grass country in the world, settled in a small rural community, and raised our boys to be the next generation of ranchers for Pacheco Cattle Company.

We are grateful for the opportunity to work together as a family, to work in one of the best industries, to produce agriculture, and to live in Rural America.

Our Operation – Pacheco Cattle Company
When we dated over twenty years ago, Arturo and I dreamed of running cattle and having registered cows. However, life is funny, and the dream took a twist. We are still running cattle together, but they are not registered. P.S. In our About Us section, you can read more about how we met and our journey.

We moved to our rural community outside Manhattan, KS, in 2014 right after Arturo finished his PhD program. The house and a small piece of the Flint Hills brought us here, but the community and opportunities have kept us there.
In 2015, we were offered some grass to lease to run double-stock yearlings at a happen-a-stance meeting. A yearling is about a 750-lb calf; the double stock term refers to the stocking rate of what we put on the grass. So, our grass country has super nutrient-rich grass from May 1 to August 1. Ranchers put double the amount of livestock on that grass for that 90 days to get the most use out of the nutrient-rich grass.
We share more about that in this video:
We no longer lease that piece of grass that got us started. Still, we have the opportunity to rent other pieces of grass and even have the chance to put cows on some of that grass, which led us to be able to purchase our first set of mamma cows—taking us back to our roots of a cow-calf operation.
With the purchase of our cow-calf herd, we can offer beef directly from our ranch to your freezer through Pacheco Beef. See more about how to purchase our beef here.
Our operation has changed and grown over the last eight years, and frankly, that is just part of being in production agriculture. You must be willing to take risks and try something different to fit your available resources.
We are grateful for this way of life and the community that has welcomed us with open arms.
